Name:
Tom Conibere

Band Position:
3rd Cornet

Playing Resumé:
I began playing Trumpet at the age of 10, playing in the local Youth orchestra as soon as I had passed the Associated Board Grade 5.I very quickly developed a real love for the Cornet after joining my local junior brass band (Berisford’s later to become Silk Brass) at home in Cheshire, where I was also frequently asked to play for a variety of amateur shows including ‘My Fair Lady’ and the ‘Wizard of Oz.’
I felt highly honoured to receive the silver award from the Associated Board of Music upon passing my grade 6 exam on the cornet, and also won the first prize for solo performance at the Royal Northern College of music during a Rotary contest for Cheshire schools.

After completing my grade 8 on both Cornet & Trumpet and gaining my ‘A’ levels, I went to study cornet at the Royal Northern College of Music under Brian Taylor and Roger Webster. After four years study I gained BMus with Hons degree.

I have played in several bands throughout the Northwest of England including Haydock, Silk Brass and The Williams Fairey band.

I would say my greatest banding moments would be having the opportunity to play under some great conductors and also the experience of playing some interesting music including Acid Brass on a wonderful trip to Vienna with Faireys.

In the future I would hope to continue developing both as a Cornet player and musician, hoping one day to compete in the European Brass Band championships!
