As well as being one of the most successful brass bands in the world, Whitburn Band have a long tradition of successful small ensemble playing. Since the revamp of the Scottish Solo and Ensemble Championships in 2003, Whitburn Band 10 piece are the only ensemble to have won the contest.

The band's younger players also became Scottish Youth Quartet Champions in 2004 when their performance in the final won the contest by 7 points!
